FollowMe is designed with your privacy in mind. We only collect the minimum data necessary to provide real-time location sharing with your chosen groups.

Information We Collect

When you use FollowMe, we collect:

• Location Data: Your device's location, only while you are actively participating in a group session.
• Profile Information: The display name, icon, and color you choose when creating or joining a group.
• Authentication Data: Anonymous authentication credentials to identify your device within a session.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to:

• Share your location with members of groups you've joined
• Display your chosen name and icon to other group members
• Send you notifications about group activity (if enabled)

Data Storage & Retention

We use Firebase (Google Cloud) to securely store session data. Your location data is:

• Stored only while your group session is active and you are actively sharing
• Automatically deleted when the group expires
• Removed immediately if you leave a group or stop sharing

We do not retain historical location data after sessions end. When you stop sharing your location, your data is immediately deleted from our servers and removed from all other group members' devices in real-time.

Data Sharing

Your location is shared only with:

• Members of groups you explicitly create or join (private groups require a code; public groups are visible to nearby users)

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties for marketing purposes.

No Communication Features

FollowMe is a location-sharing app only. There are no communication features between users—no text messaging, chat, voice calls, or any way to send content to other group members. The app displays only location data, names, and icons that users choose for themselves.

No Tracking or Analytics

FollowMe does not use:

• Advertising trackers or identifiers
• Analytics SDKs (Google Analytics, Facebook, etc.)
• Crash reporting services that collect personal data

Your Choices

You have full control over your data:

• Always-visible status indicator: A color-coded indicator is always visible when you're in a group. Red means "Tracking" (your location is being shared), blue means "Viewing" (you can see others but aren't sharing your location).
• One-tap stop: Tap the indicator to instantly stop sharing your location. Your location is immediately removed from all other group members' maps.
• View without sharing: After stopping, you can continue viewing other group members without sharing your own location.
• One-tap resume: Changed your mind? Tap "Resume Sharing" to start sharing your location again.
• Leave a group at any time to completely exit and stop all location sharing
• Disable notifications in the app settings
• Revoke location permissions in your device settings
• Reset all data using the "Reset All Data" option in settings

No Automatic Tracking

FollowMe never tracks your location automatically. Location sharing only begins when you take explicit action:

• Creating a new group, or
• Joining an existing group with a code

Location sharing automatically stops when the group's time limit expires. You can also stop sharing manually at any time using the tracking indicator—your location data is immediately removed from other group members' devices when you do so.

Children's Privacy

FollowMe is designed for family use, including helping parents keep track of children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental involvement. Groups can be private (requiring a code to join) or public (visible to nearby users). Parents can create private groups to share location only with family members.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
